SARAJEVO, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- An international military exercise started on Thursday in Croatia, the biggest since its independence, with the participation of 10 countries, among them the United States. A statement from the Croatian army said such large-scale maneuvers are taking place for the first time since Croatia joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The goal of the exercise is to increasing the combat readiness of Croatian troops and the participating countries. The statement which was broadcasted through Croatian radio in Zagreb said that the wide areas of the exercise will includes the capital Zagreb and some of Croatia's Islands in the Adriatic Sea. The Croatian Air Force and Navy will participate in these drills, the statement noted.
